This Week at St. Clement (April 29 – May 4)

First Holy Communion will take place this Sunday for many of our students.  Mass is at St. Clement Church at 9:00 and at St. Agatha Church at 11:00 a.m.  Please pray for these students as they receive this Sacrament.

Clean water is a basic human right, but more than 800 million people lack access to it. When communities have access to clean water, girls can attend school, parents can run sustainable farms and families can lead healthier lives. On Tuesday, May 1 2018, The Social Justice Club is hosting a Makers Market with a goal of raising $250 to provide a lifetime of clean water to a family in Ecuador.  With Mother’s Day approaching, it’s a great time to buy something for Mom or get something special for yourself or another loved one.  Students in the Social Justice Club have dedicated hours of their time to creating hand-crafted items such as hand-painted canvases, clay jewellery pots, stress balls, essential oil bath salts, and more. Items will be priced from 50 cents to $4 with all proceeds being donated through We Schools.  Later this month the Social Justice Club will be holding a Water Walk to spread awareness about the issue of access to clean water.

Our annual Track and Field Day will be Friday, May 4 at St. David CSS for students in grades four to eight.  Please remember to send your child with lunch, water, snacks and sunscreen.  Thanks to the parents who volunteered to help out at this event.

Our Easter Mass will be Wednesday morning at 9:00.  Students who received their First Communion on Sunday are encouraged to wear their First Communion clothes so that we can get a group picture.  Please bring something to change into after the picture.  Parents and guests are welcome to join us for mass.

On Tuesday afternoon, we will have a kick-off assembly for Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart.  The event will take place on Friday, May 18 and all envelopes are due on the 18th.

Students in grades 6 to 8 are invited to a matinee performance of Glee on Friday, May 11 at the Humanities Theatre.  Tickets (including bus) are $14 and will be available online.  There are a limited number of tickets so it will be on a first come, first served basis.  Students who choose not to go will have an alternate activity at school that day.

This is a friendly reminder that our Open House and Fundraiser is on Tuesday, May 8.  Families will have an opportunity to see their child’s classroom and work.  We will also have a cake raffle, basket raffle, food and a spin the wheel activity.  We hope to see you there.
