Dear Saints families,

We sincerely thank you for your patience! There have been many announcements in the media and we truly understand that there is has been much to process.

Many would like to know how to prepare their child for the return. One way is to visit the resource that was provided to you about your child’s mental health and return to school found on Mental Health Ontario. Another way is by starting to establish a routine. It will be so important for all of our children to get back into a routine.  Please start to get up earlier in the morning so that school mornings are not such a shock.  Please start to go to bed at a reasonable time so that students can get their 8-10 hours of sleep.  Please start to have lunch from snack containers so that children can practice opening and closing reusable containers independently.  Please start to engage in some activities that practice the basics: letter and word recognition in order and out of order; counting forwards and backward; number recognition in and out of order; activities that practice addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; read everyday…etc There are a lot of things that you can be doing to get students back into a routine.  You do not have to do them all, but start with a few!

I would also like to suggest that you have several conversations with your children about the pandemic.  It really is something to be aware of and to be careful with, but we do not want to project our stresses and anxiety onto our children.  Reassure them that if they follow the necessary precautions, they should be just fine going to school.  There is a big difference between being vigilant and following all of the rules and being overwhelmed by the many things they may be hearing about on the news and social media.  We are working hard at St. Clement CES to ensure our students that although things may look a little different this year, WE’VE GOT THIS!

Please read thoroughly the  Letter to WCDSB School Re-Opening August 27th, from Loretta Notten, as she updates our system with the most current information regarding our Board’s re-opening plan. Kindly review the letter carefully and stay tuned to Newswire over the coming week as further updates and school specific information will be shared. Remember to visit the WCDSB Plan for Re-opening site for the most up-to-date information.
