Thought for the Week:  WE REMEMBER! Please thank our veterans.

Hopefully, everyone is enjoying the extra hour as daylight savings come to an end and clocks went back an hour last night. The weekend has also provided us with some beautiful fall weather and hopefully, you have also been able to enjoy it and spend some time outdoors.

It appears at this time there is still no final determination in regard to the ongoing labour relations between CUPE  and the government. Our St. Clement CUPE employees include our Library technician, our office administrative assistants, our educational assistants, our early childhood educators, our child youth care workers, and our lunch hour supervisors. As communicated previously, due to any continued CUPE labour action all WCDSB elementary and secondary schools will be closed, including our before and after school programs as we migrate to remote learning. Devices were deployed to students who require them last week, so students can continue to access learning. If you are still in need of a device, please complete the request form here: https://lf.wcdsb.ca/forms/APC052-05F

In preparation for the possibility of school closures continuing this week, classroom teachers will be sharing the remote learning schedule with all students and families. It is similar to the schedule we followed during online learning last year.

  • School starts at  8:50 AM
  • Students are expected to join their class online and follow the class schedule
  • The day is a combination of synchronous & asynchronous learning with breaks and lunch
  • School ends at 3:20 PM

For our FDK Families, the schedule will be a little bit different. Due to the absence of ECEs in the classroom, class sizes must be reduced to 15 students. This means FDK students would be attending half-day online sessions either in the morning. The classroom teachers will be communicating the learning groups and schedules for their classes with their families.

Attendance at school is a requirement for students registered at schools in Ontario whether it is remote or in person. Teachers will be taking attendance and the school administration will be following up with families.

  • If your child is going to be absent please continue to call the school to report the absence.
  • If you are planning to exempt your child from online learning during the closure, please send an email to sherry.macdonald@wcdsb.ca stating that you are approving your child’s absence during the closure.

Please stay tuned for any further updates regarding the labour dispute. We hope and pray we are able to resume in-person learning soon.

Remembrance Day Prayer

We remember those who stood for love and truth

And thank you for the sacrifice they made for me and you

Thank you that we can now enjoy the peace and learn to love not to fight,

Thank you that we can now sing and play, and not be scared or hide.

Amen
