Just a few updates:
Opening Liturgy: As we are not able to gather together for an opening Mass to begin the school year, our school Chaplain, Sarah Kwiecinski has collaborated to create a Welcome Back Message and an Opening Liturgy. Your child’s teacher has scheduled a time for your child to participate in the Message and Liturgy together with their classmates.
Masks: The board has advised that in order to avoid cross-contamination, students are to leave their masks at their desks for recess breaks (unless they are wanting to wear them for the recess). Putting masks in pockets, carrying them around, using a baggie or lanyards are not recommended by Health. Therefore students, unless volunteering to wear them outside for recess, will leave them safely at their desk. Staff will continue to be masked outside.
Google Classroom/ D2L: Our staff will have their Google Classrooms/D2L up and running by end of day Monday. Although not all learning will be available virtually, our team is committed to supporting our learners as we go through this challenging time together. Please reach out to your child’s classroom teacher if you are having difficulty accessing their Google Classroom / D2L.
Just a reminder that all staff and students should be completing the child health assessment each morning before coming to school. Do not send your child to school if they are showing any Covid symptoms, such as runny nose, cough, stomach pains, headache, etc. as outlined in the assessment. If your child shows these signs upon arriving or develops these symptoms at school, the office will notify a parent/guardian for a pick-up. As per Public health, any siblings must be picked up as well. Siblings will remain home until the ill sibling is symptom free for 24 hours.
Public Health is directing families then complete a COVID test or to see your doctor to confirm the illness to be something other than COVID. Once confirmed, your child may return to school 24 hours after being symptom-free. Please find the direction from Public Health here: Parent_Communication_for_School_Boards
Once again, “Thank you” Saints Community for your efforts and willingness to go above and beyond to help keep our students, your children, safe and healthy.
