As we head into the Christmas break…

If your child is going to be absent today, please call the office and leave a message or email Mrs. Williams!

THANK YOU!

On behalf of the staff at St. Clement CES we want to sincerely thank you for the overwhelming gratitude and support you have demonstrated since the start of the school year. We are so very appreciative of your kind words and generous support! In all truth and sincerity, it has been a very long and tiring haul and we are truly looking forward to the break! Taking care of your children has been our number one priority!  We are all grateful that we can take a break over the next two weeks provided we stay home, isolate, and follow the guidelines set out by Region of Waterloo Public Health.

Please continue to check newswire for important updates.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the office.

On behalf of the Saints staff, I wish you peace, love and joy through this Christmas break.  Merry Christmas. Enjoy the time with your family and we will see you soon,

Mrs. Dafoe

Surprise!! Christmas Bingo today for students

Not only is today the 12th DAY OF CHRISTMAS- “CRAZY CHRISTMAS DAY (wear red/green/head accessories/slippers socks/pjs…whatever you want) but just to add a little more Christmas Cheer, we are having school-wide Christmas Bingo! Students will enjoy a little prize that will be handed out using gloves and tongs to abide by the safety protocols. Such a great way for students to go into the holidays!

Communication Updates

We are learning so many lessons through COVID-19. Perhaps of the utmost importance is the need for clear communication.

Please make sure Mrs. Williams has your updated email and cell phone information on file at the school. The best way for you to ensure this accurate information is to call the school or email your child’s teacher directly. We know from other instances of COVID-19 contact tracing in schools the importance of timely and accurate communication with parents/guardians. If you have not provided your updated information we have no way of contacting you, and this places others at elevated risk.

PLEASE contact:

  • Mrs. Williams with updates by email taylor.williams@wcdsb.ca with your contact information OR
  • your child’s teacher to verify information provided at the start of the year ASAP

Your cooperation is very much appreciated!

Reminders for the Week

Season of Advent/ Christmas Message

We set aside time in our classrooms to recognize the themes of Advent and listen to the message that each week has conveyed. During these weeks leading up to Christmas, it reminds us of how blessed we are to be able to participate in our faith and continue our spiritual journey. Advent is an opportunity to reflect on Hope, Faith , Joy and Love. May each of you and your families carve out time to examine these four gifts that have been given to us. Gifts that are easily treasured at this time of year as we look to the significant meaning of Christmas to bring us peace of mind. May you and your families be blessed with great health, much happiness and continued blessings. On behalf of everyone at St. Clement Catholic School, we want to wish you a very Merry Christmas. We look forward to seeing all of our students back on Monday, January 4th. Please have a safe, healthy and blessed Christmas season!

St. Clement Christmas Concert

Our plans continue to move along for this year’s St. Clement Christmas Concert. Given the current safety guidelines, we have had to be creative with our performances (avoid singing and having it school-wide virtually), but the show must go on! In terms of sharing the performances with our Saints families, please note that in order to respect student privacy concerns will are unable to share a whole school video, each teacher will be sharing the video of their class performance with parents/guardians of the class by the end of the day Friday. Thanks in advance for your understanding.

Lifetouch Photo Update

Student photo proof packages have now been sent home with all students. Your child’s unique photo ID and access code have been provided inside the proof package. Go to mylifetouch.ca and enter the student’s ID code in the box and the access code box will then appear under it once you’ve entered the photo ID. If you have any questions or issues with ordering, please contact Lifetouch through their online chat.

Staffing Update

Mrs. Mayer will be leaving St. Clement in the Lunch Hour Supervisory position. We are sad to be losing her as a staff member of our team and we want to thank her for all of her years of dedication as the Lunch Hour Supervisor.

Angel Tree

A huge thank you to our entire St. Clement School community for your support and generosity with our Angel Tree this Christmas. Your monetary on-line donations are going towards food to families in need at Mary’s Place. Thank you to the many families that donated!  Your kindness is simply awesome and truly celebrates the spirit of the season! THANK YOU! If you would still like to donate you can donate here:

We Need You!

St. Clement is in need of a Lunch Hour Supervisor for the hours of 11:35-12:35. We require someone to fill this spot Monday – Friday, but if you are only available a couple of times a week, we will accommodate this as well. This is a paid position with the Waterloo Catholic District School Board. Please contact andrea.dafoe@wcdsb.ca if you are interested in helping out and filling this position.

Many thanks for considering.

Umbrella Project: Theme for the Month of December is Self-Compassion

Self- Compassion is the care we give to ourselves when we make mistakes, embarrass ourselves, or come short of a goal we were hoping to achieve.  It is important to acknowledge and accept that their are times in life that we are at fault, and that is part of being human.  Self -compassion is giving ourselves care, understanding and kindness instead of criticism when faced with shortcomings, inadequacies , or failures.
Why is Self-Compassion Important
  1. Improves wellbeing, happiness, life satisfaction, connection to others, self-confidence, curiosity, self compassion and optimism Reduces anxiety, depression, stress
  2. Reduces perfectionism and shame
  3. Increases our desire to learn
  4. Increases feelings of competence and ability to complete tasks
  5. Lowers our fear of failure, and makes us more likely to persevere and try again
  6. Allows us to take greater responsibility for past mistakes and gives us greater disposition to apologize
Quotes
“ Someone is inevitably going to dislike you. As long as that person isn’t yourself , you are good”
Michelle Elman
“It’s not your job to like me, It’s mine”
Byron Katie

12 Days of Christmas was a huge hit with Saints!

Saints got right into the Christmas spirit of the 12 days leading up to Christmas break. With Christmas tunes playing over the PA system to halls decked with lights, trees and holly, how could Saints not have the Christmas Cheer. Some of the favourites, according to student feedback was Stuffy day, movie day, red and green day, dress up as your favourite character and of course, let’s not forget pajama day!

Enjoy some of the pictures below of Saints showing some holiday fun!
