Yearbooks for Sale

Dear St. Clement families:

This 2019-2020 school year has been an interesting one to say the least. The distance between us right now is not how we want it to be, but we do have a lot to celebrate from our time together from September to March. We would like to look back on this school year and remember the many gifts that we have received and look forward to the time when we can all be back together again.

From the generous donations of CSAC, Natascha Martin and Family, Stacey Mayer and Family, Tracy Brenner and Family and the advertising spots that were sold, one year book has been purchased to go to each family. Complete the CASH-ON-LINE order form Only if your family would like to order ADDITIONAL books at $20 each, Additional yearbooks will be available for order until June

We are so thankful for the generosity of our community.

A Message from LunchBox Orders

We wanted to share an update on the communication sent last week.  Please note, Lunchbox Orders will be waiving the refund transaction fee for refunds processed with the extended school closures due to Covid-19.  If a parent has paid the transaction fee in recent weeks, the fee will be returned to their payment card.  Our team will be contacting those families directly to confirm the fee return.

WCDSB Schools to Mark Pride Month: June 1 – 30, 2020

For many years, the Waterloo Catholic District School Board has embraced the vision of Waterloo Region’s Catholic schools being “Heart of the community”, fostering “success for each” and creating “a place for all.”

To bring that vision to life, the WCDSB has prioritized equity, inclusion and belonging in the school board’s Multi-year Strategic Plan, as well as the board’s Pastoral Plan and Well-Being Plan.

As Catholics, we believe that we are wonderfully made in the image and likeness of a God who created us and loves us unconditionally – just as we are. We are called to love and celebrate one another, just as God loves and celebrates each one of us. We honour the inherent dignity in each other by treating one another with care, compassion, and respect.

The month of June is designated as Pride Month across the province of Ontario, and indeed much of Canada and the globe.  This month, and each and every month, our Catholic schools are committed to nurturing safe and inclusive learning environments where every student and every member of the community is welcomed, valued, and respected.

We will promote this message throughout the month of June, and WCDSB will also fly the following flag for the entire month of June at each of its buildings and school locations.

We believe the message – We are all wonderfully made – We love because he first loved us (1 John 4:19) captures a powerful message that we hope will resonate well in each of our school communities and across the broader Waterloo Region community.

Kindergarten Registration is STILL Open!!

Several years ago, we established a very easy-to-use online pre-registration portal to make the registration process as convenient as possible.

Parents of children scheduled to begin JK in September 2020, are encouraged to complete the pre-registration process as soon as possible.

There will still need to be some in-person contact with the school, but that will be handled at an appropriate time after the COVID-19 crisis has passed.

For non-Catholic families wishing to register in a WCDSB elementary school, your school Principal will reach out to you to complete the required interview process – again – at an appropriate time in in the most appropriate manner, including via phone.

STAFFING UPDATE

Dear Saints Families:

I would like to update you on a staffing change. I am informing you that one of our staff members, Mrs. Alvarez, is undergoing treatment for cancer. Mrs Alvarez asked me to share this information with you.

Mrs. Alvarez will be taking an extended leave of absence commencing immediately. Mr. Gassler will continue to cover her Grade 7/8 class while she is away.

You may wish to share with your child that Mrs. Alvarez has cancer and your child may have questions about it. The School Social Worker, our Family of Schools Chaplain and your child’s classroom teacher are available to discuss any concerns with students. You can also learn more about communicating with your child about cancer by visiting https://www.cancercouncil.com.au/cancer-information/for-family-and-friends/talking-to-kids-about-cancer/.

Mr. Gassler and I will endeavor to ensure that your child’s education is not disrupted by these changes and that any of your child’s needs are addressed. Please feel free to contact me if you have any concerns and kindly keep Mrs. Alvarez in your thoughts and prayers.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs. Dafoe
