Toys / Collectibles/ other valuables

Please do not allow students to bring toys/ collectibles/ other valuables to school. It continues to be school policy, as it is distracting for students in class and the school is not responsible for lost/stolen items. In particular, students will not be allowed to bring Pokemon cards to school. It is causing unnecessary recess issues and conflicts.

Thank you for your continued support of your child’s education.

St. Clement CES Open Today

As a result of the agreement reached between the government of Ontario, the Trustees’ Associations and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), all Waterloo Catholic District School Board Schools will be OPEN on Monday, October 7, 2019 – and all programs and services will continue running on their regular schedules.

Possible CUPE Job Action, Student Announcement

Dear Parent/Guardian,
Below you will find an announcement that was made to the students this morning.

“Some of you may have already heard from your families or friends or from the news that there is a possibility of a strike affecting our school, beginning on Monday morning.

If there is a strike, it means that some of our school staff will not be coming to work.

We hope and pray that this will not happen – but if it does, it means our school will have to close until the strike is over, and you will not be able to come to school.

We are doing our best to make sure your families have as much information about this situation as possible. They can keep up to date by visiting the school board’s website.

If our school does have to close on Monday, we hope it will only be closed for a short time and we can all be back together in our classrooms soon.”

In the event of a CUPE strike on Monday, October 7th parents are asked to check their normal media outlets as they would in the event of an inclement weather school closure.

In case of inclement weather, the radio stations will broadcast information regarding sever weather warnings, school closure and bus cancellations. Families may want to have a plan in place at home to respond to the radio announcements. Bus cancellations and school closure notices affecting the schools within the Waterloo Catholic District School Board will be given between 6:45 and 8:30 a.m.

Important Reminders for the Upcoming Week at St. Clement:

Please go on WCDSB website to ensure that you are aware of any school closures that may occur due to CUPE Labour Disputes starting on Monday.

Construction Update: The construction company arrived at the school this morning without any communication to begin the construction of the elevator for accessibility. The construction of the elevator will occur outside the building to begin with and then they plan on “breaking through the walls” at Christmas break. They are placing fencing up to contain the area for construction and for student safety, students have been asked to stay away from this area. Please be aware of this area and do not enter this area for pick up/drop off of students at the beginning and end of the day. A reminder to safely park on the streets that surround the school and be aware and follow all posted traffic signs.

Umbrella Project Theme of the Month: Empathy. “Empathetic students are more successful because they do not seek good grades, but their goal is to understand the materials in the subject.”

Please see pictures tweeted out to see samples of our Spirit Wear (which are also at the school for viewing). We have Spirit Wear Day every Thursday. You may order on Cash OnLine .
