Reminders about toys and equipment on the yard.

  • In the primary grades, the teachers have indicated that the children may bring small toys to play at recess.
  • Small toys such as Legos, dolls, and cars are welcome.
  • We would not recommend bringing toys that are valuable or important.
  • They may not trade, and they should be okay to share with others.
  • The items need to remain in the child’s backpack but may be used only at recess.
  • The school will NOT be responsible if items are lost.
  • From a whole school perspective, students are not able to bring balls from home.
  • The great news is that we are distributing new classroom balls this week!!

School Fundraising: Your opportunity to donate to the school fundraiser is available through Cash Online. Our goal is to raise $5000, which is about $20 per student. We are currently at $2520. There will be a sweet treat for every student. Only participants in the fundraiser will receive a chance to win a prize, along with a  fun item for the dance!! Absolutely any amount is appreciated. Please donate through School Cash Online before the dance to avoid any disappointment.

The fundraiser helps to support school agendas, spirit wear t-shirts, playground equipment, special events, and hopefully a new Gaga Ball pit!  So far this year, your child has received an agenda at a discounted rate (pay what you can), a free pizza lunch, and a school t-shirt. We would love to continue to be able to provide these opportunities!

There will be a special draw that is only available to students who are participating in the fundraising efforts!

New Brightspace  Parent & Guardian Portal: Brightspace Parent & Guardian is a tool for authorized parents and guardians to see specific components of their child’s course, including the Activity Feed, shared Portfolio artifacts, graded assessments, and feedback as well as upcoming Assignments and Quizzes. This helps parents engage with young learners and maintain awareness of upcoming work. It is not a parent-teacher communication tool—it’s a window into the classroom. Parents automatically have an account based on the parent details you provided when you registered your child with WCDSB. Reference the Parent Portal Letter for instructions on how to access your account.

Family-School Connections: When we surveyed families last year, there was an overwhelming desire for parents to know more about what children are learning in the classroom. All parents should be able to access their child(ren) D2L site. A memo from the school comes out each week. We update the website regularly and use an X account.

Sharing our learning: Our Grade 1-8 classes are following the WCDSB recommendation and implementing Mathology activities in each class.

What is Mathology? Pearson Canada’s Mathology is a comprehensive classroom resource. Built on academic and classroom research for the diversity of Canadian classrooms, it is designed to unlock the joy in learning math by engaging students and teachers with materials that: help teachers gain a deeper understanding of student thinking and determine the next best steps; meet students and teachers where they are at in their math learning journey and build teacher capacity.

What is Knowledgehook? Knowledgehook’s proprietary technology harnesses the power of data to track where students are on their math journey. Their solution connects a child’s in-school education to their at-home learning, providing real-time insights and expert-designed remediation tools to teachers on student learning gaps. This empowers teachers to develop an understanding of the math concepts related to their students’ challenges, enabling them to adjust instruction and monitor student progress.

As a staff, we collaboratively plan and discuss learning goals. Many of our teachers are seeking parent input and support around at-home work. You should expect this to transpire in the Junior and Intermediate grades. Items sent home often are the work that was not completed in class. At St Clement, teachers are also encouraging families to utilize the At Home Reading Program (Grades 1-3) and Knowledgehook Challenges (Grades 3-6). If you have any questions or suggestions please contact Mrs. MacDonald to further discuss.
